Five Places to Pregame Before Silvertips Games

Hockey is here again! The Silvertips home opener is Saturday September 20 against Vancouver. Looking for a place to party down before puck drop? Here’s some best bets close to Angel of the Winds Arena.

The Independent Beer Bar

(1801 Hewitt Ave)

The Independent Beer Bar is always open before Silvertips games, and being a block up from the arena, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a pre game pint. Over 15 rotating taps and a healthy selection of beer and wine by the bottle (or glass) so there’s always something new to try for every home game. The Independent also serves Russian dumplings (!) in case you need a little snack.

Brooklyn Bros. Pizzeria

(1919 Hewitt Ave)

Brooklyn Bros. is the spot to get a slice. Not only for the game, but any day of the week. Serving New York slices, square pies and calzones, Brooklyn Bros. replicates the taste of a real NYC pizzeria. Pro Tip: Get to Brooklyn Bros. early to beat the rush before the game — their lines are usually out the door before puck drop.

Kai Sushi

(2811 Colby Ave)

Sushi kinda looks like a hockey puck (hey, I know it’s a stretch but work with me here), and there’s no better sushi in downtown than Kai. Offering a plethora of specialty rolls ranging from the tame to the extreme (the cowboy roll has flash-seared steak in it) and a hearty list of beer, wine and sake.

Tony V’s Garage Saloon and Eatery

(1716 Hewitt Ave)

Hockey is a contact sport, and so is punk and metal music, which Tony V’s caters to. Pool, TVs playing sports, stiff drinks and cheap beer await you here. The cheeseburgers here are delicious, so order a couple before the game with a tallboy or two of Rainier to really get you amped for gametime.

Chianti Italian Restaurant

(1712 Hewitt Ave)

If you’re looking for something a bit formal, Chianti (right next door to Tony V’s) is your place. Italian fare, hearty wines and cozy atmosphere is a great way to ease into the night. Try the carbonara or split a Margherita pizza with your sweetie.
