Silvertips Pink the Rink for Breast Cancer Awareness
Pink the Rink is a special night in Silvertips Country. Not only is it the first game of the year against the team’s biggest rival, the Seattle (or is it Kent?) Thunderbirds, but it’s also a night to raise money for the Providence General Foundation to fund mammography, disease prevention and breast cancer care for people with financial barriers in Snohomish County.
Since its inception, Pink the Rink has raised over a half-million dollars for Providence General Foundation, and in 2018, the Tips and their fans brought in over $65,000 in one night.
A rivalry game and a good cause. We love it.
In the first meeting of the year between the Silvertips and the Thunderbirds, Everett’s goaltending kept the Tips in the game, and after three periods, the score was knotted at 0-0.
Angel of the Winds Arena saw its first overtime contest of 2019.
Two minutes into overtime, Everett forward Gage Gonclaves snatched the puck from the Thunderbirds along the right wall and fired a wrist shot glove-side to Seattle goaltender Roddy Ross.
Gonclaves’ shot found the back of the net, and Everett found an overtime victory against their most-hated rivals on Pink the Rink night.

Looking to take in a Silvertips game? Here are some tips to see the Tips:
Get there early
Free parking can be a premium in downtown Everett around Angel of the Winds Arena, so head to the rink early to score that perfect spot. There are many places along Hewitt Ave to pregame. We suggest Brooklyn Bros. Pizzeria or The Independent Beer Bar.
Get LOUD
Angel of the Winds Arena is already one of the loudest in the WHL, so make it even louder by bringing a cowbell (or four) to the game. Don’t have one? You can always head to the team shop to snag a bell of your own.
Go Hungry
Hockey and popcorn are always a good combo, but have you tried the mini donuts at Angel of the Winds Arena? What about the BBQ Mac N Cheese? A slice of pizza from Major League? There’s plenty of food options in the arena.
