Summertime Cookin’: Our Favorite Spots to Grill Outdoors
There’s something about preparing (and eating) food outdoors that makes everything taste a bit better. Maybe it’s the paper plates and checkered tablecloths? …Nah it’s probably the grill. Whether it’s burgers and dogs or veggie kabobs, grilling in the great outdoors is so summertime.
Here’s some of our favorite spots to light up some coals.
This scenic park lets you grill in covered shelters bay side and offers fantastic sunset views. Into crabbing? You can do that right from the dock. Bringing the kids? Kayak Point has a really awesome playground and plenty of field space. Also camping!
We like sitting on the driftwood and taking in the salt air while the sun goes down.
Mukilteo’s Lighthouse Park has a lot to offer. Rent out a covered area and grill it up, or sit around one of the beachside fire pits and roast some weenies and marshmallows under a cool clear night sky. It’s also a fantastic place to fly a kite.
If you’re at Lighthouse Park in the day, walk on a ferry to Clinton to feel the wind in your hair or stop by the Ivar’s to grab a swirl soft-serve cone. Don’t forget about DiamondKnot Brewery for some choice craft beverages.
Another park with views of the water, American Legion Park has covered BBQ areas for rent, as well as a lot of open space, baseball diamonds and park benches perfect for taking in a summer sunset over Port Gardner Bay. Legion Park is also home to the Evergreen Arboretum (located on the South end of the park), a beautiful place for a post-meal stroll.
Jennings Park is situated in a valley with lots of lush green grass, trees to sit under and a BBQ shelter available to rent. Take a stroll around the lake or head into the nature trails to tour the wetlands.
