Seasonal Delights: Fun Park Activities
We’re in a rut. How about you? We’ve lost track of time and it seems like we’re doing the same thing every day so it’s time to try something new. We sometimes get decent weather this time of the year so we’ve got a few ideas to get out of the house and get moving with some fun park activities.
Disc Golf
Thornton A Sullivan Park at Silver Lake
11405 Silver Lake Rd.
Everett, WA 98208
Get your flying discs or Frisbees back from the dog and head to Silver Lake for a nine-hole disc golf course. Like golf, the object is to get the disc into the target with the fewest number of tries. Check out the park website for rules about using the course.
Horseshoes
Forest Park
802 E. Mukilteo Blvd.
Everett, WA 98203
Can you remember the last time you played horseshoes? Us either, but did you know there are horseshoe pits at Forest Park? You can’t check out horseshoes from the recreation office at this time so dig around in the garage or barn for horseshoes or you can purchase some online.
Pickleball
Garfield Park
2300 Walnut St.
Everett, WA 98201
Combine tennis, badminton and ping pong and you get pickleball. It’s a great game for all ages and apparently all the rage at Riverside’s Garfield Park. Who knew? You’ll need to pick up paddles and balls from a sporting goods store.
Basketball
When was the last time you shot some hoops? Pump up your ball and get to one of Everett’s 11 basketball courts at city parks. Many schools have covered outdoor courts so if it’s raining there’s no excuse to not get outside and get moving.
