Four Fun Things: Explore the Everett Public Library - Online!
We love to browse the stacks at the beautiful historic Everett Public Library in downtown and the freshly remodeled Evergreen Branch. There’s always something new to discover. We’ve also discovered some new things by browsing the library website from our comfy sofa at home. Here’s four fun things we discovered on the Everett Public Library website.
Discover Passes and Citizen Science Kits
A Discover Pass is required for entry at Washington State Parks, but did you know you can check one out just like you would a library? That will save you a few bucks. Also, have you heard about Citizen Science? It is a fun way to learn about their environment and to help collect scientific data that scientists can use. Kits to measure light in the night and to explore biodiversity are available to check out.
Looking for a book that isn’t in the library’s collection? You can request that library staff consider purchasing it and if they do, you’ll be first on the waitlist. If you’re looking for an out-of-print title not carried at EPLS, they may be able to find it at a partner library and you can check it out through an Interlibrary Loan.
EPLS has always had great programs to participate in, but they really kicked it up a notch during the pandemic. Keep an eye out for arts and crafts for adults and kids. They recently held a Tiny Art event where you could sign up to pick up a 4 x 4-inch canvas and painting supplies. Masterpieces were turned in for a Tiny Art Show. There are storytimes for kids, book talks, a book club for Veterans and so much more. Sign up for event notifications so you don’t miss out on more fun opportunities.
Chromebooks and Wi-Fi Hotspots
In a pinch and need a computer to get a project done or search for work? EPLS has you covered with Chromebooks that you can check out for up to three weeks. They even have hotspots to check out so you can connect to the worldwide interwebs.
