Seasonal Delights: Enjoyable Walks to Get Outside

Seasonal Delights: Enjoyable Walks to Get Outside

Spring is one of our favorite times to be outdoors. The birds are chirping and the flora is renewing. There’s so much green. The air feels so refreshing after the rain and after the long winter.

There’s scientific data behind the health benefits of spending time outdoors. You’ll find tons of literature about it online. Now that it’s spring, the days are longer and the temperatures are warmer, there’s more reasons to be in the open air. Whether you want to sit and relax or move your body, here are a few of our favorite places to get outdoors in Everett.

Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens
145 Alverson Blvd
Everett, WA 98201

Pick a bench to relax on while you breathe in the fresh air or explore the eleven inspiring themed gardens curated by volunteers. The Arboretum, as the locals refer to it, is a hidden gem tucked at the end of the parking lot of Legion Memorial Park.

Grand Avenue Park and Port of Everett
1720 Grand Ave
Everett, WA 98201

The port of Everett is a great place to spend time outdoors and take in the fresh Salish Sea air. We like to park near Grand Avenue Park and enjoy the expansive views from the bluff. The Grand Avenue Park Bridge will take you down to the waterfront for more amazing views and great walking routes

Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary
6900 Seaway Blvd.
Everett, WA 98204

This beautiful wetland area has well-groomed trails, benches, picnic tables, interpretive signs and stunning viewpoints. There’s a small loop trail and a longer half-mile trail around the perimeter. Keep an eye out for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife including rabbits, beavers and owls.

McCollum Park Forest Loop
600 128th St. SE
Everett, WA 98206

The loop is small but quiet and beautiful in the southwest corner of McCollum Park. If you are looking for a longer walk, head east toward the transit station and hop on the North Creek Trail that runs through old-growth trees, south into Mill Creek and on to Bothell.
