As we get more glimpses of sunshine, our minds turn to a favorite summertime treat - ice cream. Of course, there are the usual ice cream shops we all know and love, like Baskin-Robbins, but we’ve stumbled upon some delightful, hidden treasures you may not know about.
Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane serves Thai-style ice cream using a special tool to roll the ice cream of your choice into a log. The cold temperature of the tool makes the ice cream colder and the texture more like gelato. Sugar Cane also serves delightful things like crepes, waffles, banana splits and smoothies.
Bliss Small Batch Creamery

If you or your family members have food allergies, Bliss Small Batch Creamery might have the perfect ice cream for you. Founded by moms, this company uses ingredients free from artificial dyes, flavors and preservatives, and they offer options that are dairy, egg, gluten and nut-free. And even if you don’t have food allergies, with flavors like Fudgy Brownie and Sour Cherry Amaretto, everyone in the family should be happy.
Las Fridas

Las Fridas is known for its yummy Mexican snacks and serves some ice cream treats too. We will soon be headed there to try out their horchata ice cream. If you’ve never tried it, horchata is an iced rice drink that tastes like a refreshing version of rice pudding, seasoned with cinnamon. So you can imagine that horchata ice cream will be off the charts refreshing.

You probably know about Triangle Fruit Market, but if you don’t live in the Delta Neighborhood, you may forget that it is a favorite ice cream spot. You can’t miss the cute building on Marine View Drive if you’re headed up to Legion Park. Stop next time you’re in the neighborhood.
