Four Fun Things: Favorite Farmers Market Finds
We love the market season and browsing the booths to pick up fresh from the farm flowers, fruits and vegetables. There’s a lot more at the farmers market than fruits and vegetables, though. Here are four of our favorite farmers market finds from a recent trip to the Everett Farmers Market.
Holmquist sells hazelnuts raw, dry roasted, salted and coated with yummy flavors. Stop by this booth and try some samples to determine your favorite kind(s). Ours has been their Orange Honey for the past couple of years, and we are saddened to learn that they are phasing it out. But we just tried their new coffee and aren’t so disappointed anymore. YUM! We stocked up on a 2-pound bag of Orange Honey while they still have them. They store well in the freezer, not that these will make it there.
The first noodle bowl I purchased from Mountain Ridge Pottery was a total impulse purchase. But, there was no way I could pass up the beauty of the bowl. The subsequent two purchases were because other family members wanted their own noodle bowls. We keep returning for more pieces because the handmade beauty brings us joy.
Speaking of joy, having plants that eat those darn fruit flies that infest the house every summer brings joy. Predatory Perennials sells fun and funky-looking bug-eating plants both indoors and out.
We were surprised to see one of our favorite non-profits, Paws with Cause, at the market. The purpose of this organization is to create awareness about all the shelter pets available for adoption. Volunteers can paint portraits of animals available for adoption, and the paintings can be purchased. Stop by their booth to find out more.
