Seasonal Delights: Sand and Surf

Seasonal Delights: Sand and Surf

Sum, sum, summertime! Hanging at the beach is synonymous with summer, and luckily we don't have far to go to get our toes in the sand and be surrounded by the peaceful sounds of the surf. Here are a few of our go-to spots.

Howarth Park Beach

This local favorite is a gem. From the north lot, follow the boardwalk, go up and over train tracks and down the winding stairs. Just getting to the beach is fun. From there, check out native plantings and a fish habitat restoration project. Head to the north if you brought your dog because it is a fun off-leash area for dogs with good recall. The south end of the beach is your best bet for picnicking since it isn't an off-leash area. The beach is on the small side when the tide is in, but when it is out, there's lots of exploring to do; but be careful to watch incoming tides, so you don't get stuck.

Pigeon Creek
2890 Terminal Avenue
Everett, WA 98201

Pigeon Creek requires a journey to get to as well. From Terminal Avenue, follow the paved trail along the rail tracks and get a glimpse of the working waterfront. Kids will love the cranes and trains. Finally, about .9 miles in, you'll arrive at the beautiful, secluded beach.

Edgewater Beach

Talk about a journey to the beach. You may not know about this park that’s practically hidden on the Everett Mukilteo border. Like so hidden, we can't find an address, so click on the directions link on the Port of Everett website and wind your way down to the small parking lot. The beach is large, and you should see lots of wildlife activity. The Port’s Mount Baker Terminal is located at the beach, and you might get to see aerospace parts making their journey to Boeing.

Mukilteo Lighthouse Beach
609 Front St
Mukilteo, WA 98275

If you want to plan a full day at the beach, this is your spot because it’s the only one on this list with bathrooms. This beach really has everything, including ice cream and fish and chips nearby and, yes, a lighthouse! All-inclusive entertainment like this doesn’t come free. You’ll need to pay for parking and all your yummies, but you will surely have a good time.
