Four Fun Things: Outdoor Swim Spots

Four Fun Things: Outdoor Swim Spots

The summer months may be winding down (is that a chill in the air or is that just us?) but there’s still plenty of sunny days left before we don parkas and boots and hunker down for the winter, so let’s grab some beach towels and have a swim.

Here’s some of our favorite spots to take a dip around Snohomish County.

Lake Goodwin

4620 Lakewood Rd, Stanwood, WA 98292

Disappear from the suburban sprawl of Marysville/Smokey Point to Lake Goodwin, a 538.7-acre lake north of the Tulalip Reservation. Enjoy a sandy beach and a designated swim area perfect for cooling off. The Lake Goodwin Grocery store is nearby and makes for the perfect place to stock up on snacks and ice for the cooler.

Howarth Park

1127 Olympic Blvd. Everett, WA 98203

Where industry meets recreation, Howarth Park is split by the BNSF railroad line. Cross the people bridge over the tracks to get to the beachfront, which includes an off-leash dog area so both humans and pets can enjoy the water. Bring your boogie board and enjoy the waves.

Picnic Point Park

7231 Picnic Point Rd, Edmonds, WA 98036

Another swim spot bisected by the railroad, Picnic Point Park in Edmonds offers picnic areas (like its namesake) and plenty of beach to relax on. Run up the people bridge and watch the freight trains rumble below you, on their way to Seattle and beyond.

Twin Rivers Park

8003 SR-530 NE. Arlington, WA 98223

Cut through the woods and emerge riverside at this local dip spot. You won’t find much in the way of amenities on the riverbank so be prepared to pack what you need to have a great time (bluetooth speaker for some killer summer jams?). We don’t want to nag, but there can be some strong undercurrents along the Stillaguamish River, so always be cautious when swimming!

Beach bag packed? Don’t forget the sunscreen! We’ll see you on the shore!
